God’s purpose for me
I cry to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me.
More than anything else, mankind needs to have a purpose. Two things will give a man sufficient to overcome all odds: to have a purpose and be able to fulfil it.
In God we have a noble purpose: chosen and predestined to good works and fruit bearing (John 15:16; Ephesians 1:4, 2:10). In God too we have what we need to fulfil that purpose. The devil will try to distract us; fill our lives with worthless and purposeless clutter, but God is actively fufilling His purpose for us. It is to Him, then, that we must constantly turn.
The single Hebrew word translated as ‘fulfils his purpose’ is defined as: to bring to an end, complete. This is remarkably similar to the words of Christ on the cross: it is finished which is best translated as accomplished. The psalmist is affirming the truth that God will accomplish in us. What is accomplished is not stated explicitly, but God will only accomplish His purposes. God has a plan and a purpose for us and He is accomplishing it!
If we would only look to Him rather than our own plans then we would find both purpose and fulfillment that will inspire us to live life as God intended until He fulfils all things.
