Apart from You — Psalm 16
I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.”
This Psalm, and especially the first verse is a real heartfelt expression of dependence on God.
This is the truth that Satan tries to hide from our eyes: that our only good is found in God. Pursuing anything else only ultimately brings sorrow. But, it is more than an acknowledgement of need. Parents are needed by their children, but parents want more of that from their offspring, they want to be loved! So too with God. God wants me to be able to say:
“The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup.”
He is our bountiful inheritance. The lines have indeed fallen in pleasant places if we know Him.
Our way of life should, and must be to set the Lord always before us. Our walk with Him is what will cause our hearts to be glad and our whole being to rejoice.
Surely in His presence is fullness of joy, and at His right hand are pleasures for evermore.

I love the verse that goes a little like this: “The boundary lines have fallen in pleasant places for me.” It’s a great Psalm and a constant source of peace for me.

Thanks for all the comments, Pete Son of Ted, the theology of Church is something I have particular interest in, and I hope to expand on the study when time permits.
I’ll take a look at the link.
