Abijah: 2 Chronicles 13

Abijah really seems quite naive. He fields an army half the size of the opposition and then stands up to castigate the enemy for their failure to worship the LORD.

While he is pontificating Jereboam is moving his men into an ambush. Wrong tactics by Abijah? No! He depended on the LORD for the victory. When he realised that they had been ambushed the people “cried out to the LORD”.

We need less tactics and more crying out to the LORD, in dependence and in expectation that God will act. Like Abijah we grow strong when we grow dependent.
