Man wanted
In Ezekiel 22:30 God says to Ezekiel “I sought for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found none.”
As a direct result of this God’s wrath came on Israel. Not only had they failed to turn from their wicked ways, but no-one was willing to stand up, follow God and intercede between God and the ungodly!
God’s wrath is always His last option. He doesn’t want to punish, but ultimately justice will be done, and if no man will stand in the gap and proclaim God’s Word to the people and intercede for the people before God then there is only one option.
Down through each generation God has sought for and found men of moral and spiritual character who would follow Him no matter the cost and fight on mankind’s behalf.
Where is the man of this generation? Truly it will be awful if God has sought and not found such a man among us. Let us pray therefore that God would raise up such a man, not just for our salvation, but for God’s glory and that He might be pleased to find such among His creation.
“For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” – 2 Chronicles 16:9
