Be a becomer

“Become mimics of God, then, as deeply loved children” Ephesians 5:1

Even as believers we haven’t ‘made it’; there is plenty of scope left in our lives for change. The Apostle Paul recognised this, and even in his letter to the Ephesians which addresses no particular problem he is keen to spur the believers on to growth.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If this is true, then the most honest display of love for God is to mimic Him, to imitate Him in His love for us. This is what Jesus did. In His life on earth He was (and still is) the perfect image of the invisible God.

One day we will be ‘presented faultless and with great joy’ before our heavenly Father by Jesus. But, until then we all must be becomers: becoming imitators, mimics of our great God until the day when we see Him face to face!
