This I know, that God is for me.

In this series of psalms David is struggling with constant opposition. These are enemies, attackers, ruthless men! David is trying to grasp hold of the rock:

“God is my helper, the Lord is the upholder of my life” Psalm 54:4.

“My eye has looked in triumph on my enenmies.” Psalm 54:7

One thing David knows is that God is for him. God knows David’s situation and cares, and is willing to act on David’s behalf.

We live in similar circumstances: the world is against us. The world remains in the sway of the devil, the people of this world hate us because they hate Christ in us. The principalities and powers of this present evil age are ranged against us.

Yet our hope is that God is for us! He made this world and its people, and the principalities and powers too! And he is for us!

Praise God, our side is his side, and his side is victorious!
